"These boots are soft and supple leather, they are surprisingly easy to get on and off. I like to pair them with a cute fp dress and tall ruffle socks.
I have really wide feet-- I am actually wearing a size 9 in these, where I'm normally a size 7.5-8! (I'm borrowing them from my mom who won the win your wishlist! Lucky lady!)
Overall these are fun and very wearable!

"I got these second hand as Free People no longer stocked these in Black and I am so glad I did! I am completely in love with them. Some reviews on here claim these are bad quality but I disagree, which is good especially as these were 'pre-loved'. Yes these boots are costly but don't forget the fact that these are actually Jeffrey Campbell boots so you are paying for the name as well as the exclusivity of only being able to purchase them from FP.
These are really versatile and not 'tacky' looking as some boots of this height can be. These hit my leg in the same place that it looks like it does on the model, which is just about the middle of my knee. I am slim so usually I have issues with tall boots being too wide around the top, making them look ridiculous and meaning that I never get buy really tall boots, but these fit perfectly. I got a size 8 and feel these run pretty true to size (but that could be because they are second hand also), I am a UK 5 / US 7.5 and whilst these could probably do with being a half size smaller its nothing that slightly thicker socks wouldn't rectify.
If you are contemplating buying these, do it, you won't regret it!"

"I am a 7.5M shoe size and after reading the other reviews, I decided to go up a half size to an 8. They fit and feel great. I hope that this lighter color will allow me to wear them through the summer since I always wear boots. I can't help it, I just love em! Thanks FP, JC is a great product."

"These truly are a beautiful boot. After waiting like an impatient child at the front window watching for the mailman- I finally got them. Once opening the box and taking the wrapping away from the boots, I was only reassured that my purchase was definitely a great one. However, trying them on put my doubt through the roof. These boots are beautiful, but are extremelly snug. I own another pair of Jeffrey Campbell boots, that were also exclusive to Free Peole, and they fit me perfectly at a size 10, which is my normal size, but these boots I am going to need to exchange for a full larger size since their so snug. I'm happy, but slightly disapointed that they don't fit."

"these boots are a good investment. i've had them for a little over a month, and i have minimal complaints! first off, i am 5"8" and 120pounds. i'm normally a size 8.5. I have really tiny calves and have had an impossible time finding boots that fit snug, but these are them! i can wear them with jeans, leggings, or jeans with leggings underneath on the really cold days! Regardless of the combo, these boots hug my legs tight and keep them super warm. I bought the 9, and i am so glad i did. there is no room to spare and they fit like a dream! i wear arch support insoles, and those fit in with no problem! the shoes are comfortable as is, but i would always recommend a little something for added support.. the only complaints i have: if you wear jeans, the ankle zipper can be rough on the side seam of the jeans. solution: wear tall socks! also, the black leather is great quality but suuuuper streaky. when i first pulled them out of the box i was frustrated that someone could distress leather like that. fortunately, after a few wears the scuffs kind of wore off and the color looks like a real smokey charcoal kinda black. these are definitely not shiny black boots. i do think the price is a little steep. but, if you have tiny legs like me, it will be worth it!"

"These are beautiful boots! If your tall, they are perfect but if you are not they probably are not the boot for you. I am 5'4 1/2" with a regular inseam. The top of the boot hit me about 3 inches above the knee causing a horrible restricted feeling and rubbing. The look was not good! I have prominent calf muscles and so they were extremely tight. I wear an 8- 8 1/2, length wise an 8 would be best. I would like to see FP offer more relaxed and forgiving calf size boots, and perhaps something for those of us under 5' 7". With all said, the boots are to die for!"

"So, I will start this off by stating that I'm 5'11 who normally wears a 36" inseam. I have no calves, really.
I have narrow feet and normally wear a 10.5-11. #this will likely be long#. This is also the most I've ever spent on a pair of shoes, so I was looking for any reason to return :P

So, against all my better sizing judgement I bought size 10 in black, 11 was out, and maybe maybe they would fit?
They do! I love them! They are trifle tight with thick athletic socks on #I tried them on with sweatpants, okay?# I've worn them for a day, I walk around a lot for my job, stairs, racing around.
So far no rubbing, but I really think that is individual--based off foot shape and the like.
They hit me *right* below my knees, much like the image on the model.

There is some streaking in the black leather, for more of a distressed look. If you are looking for a sleek, shiny, perfect dress boot this is not it. I really like this because I can dress it up, dress it down.
I highly recommend, but with the cavaet of my foot shape."

"Don't believe all the negative comments people post. These boots are great! I get compliments every time I wear them! The quality of leather is super nice and soft, and they fit perfect. Size up when ordering. I wear an 8 1/2, and I got a 9. Hope this helps! I was a skeptic at first, and now I want more pairs of these! ;)"

"I like the length and the design of the boots but beware: They run small;. I'm normally a size 9 and I could barely get my foot in with very thin socks. I exchanged them for a size 10 and they are still snug, yet wearable so I kept them. I probably just have to break them in more.I'm 5'9 130 lbs with very thin legs and they are almost too snug all the way up to the knee. I initially wasn't happy with the way there were all these noticeable white streaks running up and down the black pair of boots, which I guess are supposed to make them look distressed. It almost makes them look scratched because the streaks are not consistent. The boots are not as black as the picture makes them look which I absolutely love. Overall, I would recommend them."

"There are perfect tall boots even for a 5',3" person. I ordered the black leather ones as well as black/brown suede one and the suede ones felt great but the leather ones were too stiff around the knee area. I love wearing mine with dresses formal or casual. Definitely a sexy look."

"I have been waiting almost a year for these boots to come back in my size and color. I FINALLY was able to order them this past week.
I could barely wait to open the box and unwrap the shoes, until I caught my first glance of the color...
There must be a color mistake on website. because the boot they have pictured on the website as Taupe, is NOT the color I received. It's really not even close. The boot I recieved is a grayish tan.
I decided to try on the boot anyways to at least see how the fit was. I am usually a 7 or 71/2. In the JC battalion boots I fit perfectly into a size 7. These I decided to order up to an 8 due to past reviewers. I'm really glad I did. They fit great and have just the perfect amount of wiggle room in the toe to keep it super comfy.
I will also go ahead and say that they are not distressed looking. The material they used looks like its in perfect shape, but I think that's because this is a completely different material than what was shown in the picture.
The picture I am attaching isn't great but wanted to take a quick snapshot just to show the color.
So, the question for me is what to do now.
Love the fit and the style, but have no practical use for the color. I guess I'll have to sleep on it."

"These boots are so stylish! I'm in love! Being a hairdresser I stand on my feet all day, and I had no issues with these boots. They are defiantly a boot for girls with thin legs. The boots are very snug. I don't think I can even wear them with jeans they are so tight and I have pretty thin legs. I had a few compliments and I only wore them once!"

"I got these boots in all black yesterday - they're definitely one of a kind and create so many new outfits, so although they might be pricey, they are WORTH it for the look. It's impossible to look boring in these. i admit they did take a few minutes to put on since they are laced to the top and the zipper took some playing with but once they were on they fit pretty well. i am a comfort freak, so i would not consider these the most comfortable shoes. the pointed toe is fitted but not tight on a normal to narrow foot. the lower calf is a bit snug, i had difficulty getting them on with a pair of thick cotton leggings, but they fit like a glove when i tried them with a pair of tights and knee high socks. the top part of the back of the boot does press into the back of my knee when i walk in them, a small dislike, but i am willing to deal with it for how awesome they look. i would recommend them most to someone who is on the taller side (i am about 5'9) because these shoes will not elongate someone with shorter legs. overall, i am really excited to wear these boots during fall nights out and i would recommend them to anyone who is searching for a great pair of fashion boots. i was worried they'd give off too much of a gothic vibe, since all i wear is black and i'm really pale, but they don't. they are versatile and look really cute."

"Just checked my email to find a notice that the Joe Boot in Black for my size was available. Rushed to get online and order. Now the that doesn't sound to out there does it? Thing is, this will be my THIRD time trying to get a pair of the Joe Boots!! I had the black and brown, I had the mustard. Both were tweaked, odd problems. Now here I am waiting for the third Pair to show up. Hope springs eternal when it comes to my Free People collection, So gals, if you love this look, be aware that each color combo is made from different lots and grades of leather and the quality is random. Don't be shy, send them back and try again. So far, I think the size itself runs true if not a bit big. I have large calves and need the room these will provide. At 5'5" and 115, all so far hit me just as they do on the model. I am giving up after this final pair comes, in the All Black!! If they are stranged out, then time to try another style. I will let you know. Awesome style , so crossing all fingers for that 3rd Charm. My Black Peacemaker Dress is waiting for its true companion!"

"According to all of the reviews, I decided to go the half size up versus the half size down since I think this brand usually runs small. Well, it was way too small. I am a true 91/2 on the left and between a 9 and 91/2 on the right, and my left foot was crying when I put it in the boot. Everything else was great, even my skinny ankle looked great in this shoe, but now I will have to exchange it for the size 11, which I hope isn't crazy large. The website doesn't even say they have the size in stock, so we will see. Also, I hate when stores don't send you boxes that are large enough for the item purchased. These boots are not cheap, and they came folded up like a sandwich. I think they deserve a little more shipping care for their price."
