Pretty but fragile....and runs HUGE

"The title says it all. Several laces broken after only 1 outing, and I was pretty careful with my expensive belongings.
Normally wears M/8 clothes, ordered a size 4 and it's still a bit big on me. the neckline keep sliding down, exposing the underwear inside. The problem could be easily fixed, but I hope FP 's sizing is a bit more unified."

"I received this gorgeous dress yesterday. I was on pins and needles because I plan to wear this to a theater event this coming weekend and if it didn't work I would be back to square one with hardly any time to spare. I read the reviews and ordered a size down from my usual 6. I was so relieved that it fit me perfectly with only a bit of looseness around the waist area. I'm 5'2 at 112 lbs. and the hem hits just at my knees. I ordered the Ivory. The crochet fabric is on the heavy side and not fragile unlike some of the crochet fabrics on other FP clothing. I would recommend that this dress be folded carefully and stored in a drawer instead of hung on a hanger so as to keep it's shape. I think that this fabric would have a tendency to stretch as it is crocheted. When I tried it on my husband said "WOW"! So it's a keeper :) I'm pairing this with my Dr. Martins Triump Boots with ribbon laces. Thanks Free People for keeping me well-dressed in the most Unique Fashion!"

"I ordered the black version of this dress and after reading the reviews I ordered on the small side. It was still about 3 SIZES TOO LARGE!!! How can they get this so wrong?? Its a beautifully made dress, but it looked like a sack on me. And it would be impossible to take it in without ruining the pattern around the base.
I'm losing faith in Free People. I've had to return the last 3 things they've sent me. Its time consuming and annoying. they have lovely stuff - but it never fits!!!!"

"I started with the 6 and sized down to the 4 in the red and wore it for xmas eve. I am 5'8 145lbs. I was cold but didn't care. By the end of the night when I turned sideways my dress looked maternity as it flowed outward from my bust seam! Fabulous dress with beautiful details and quality. Perfect length if you have plenty of maxi's and don't want mini. I have since purchased the white in a 2 for Spring/Summer. SIZE DOWN!"

"I do get compliments for all my FP clothes, but this dress got the best so far. Three people in one day told me it was a perfect dress. I wore it with my brown Freebird boots and they both felt super comfy. Love the look and love the feeling wearing it. I don't think the style is meant to be worn tight fitting, so I understand why it runs a little large."

"Got the black. it runs very large. I checked for faults but all is good and how it should be.
It is a heavy crochet / lace I think it should be fitted a bit more so I will have to make alterations.
I actually really loved the dress from the moment I saw it and Im glad I bought it I think its one of those statement piece of clothing that will make you stand out because it is so wonderfully unussual and has the vintage charm about it that i love.
I really cant wait to wear this."

"The dress is gorgeous. But poor craftsmanship. I can see threads coming out everywhere, there is a big bump on the side where the zipper located, also found a hole on the sleeve (lace is ripped open). I recommend everyone to check this as I am not the only one to receive a damaged dress.
I know laces and crochets are expensive, I still think this is over-priced considering the craftsmanship.
Even so, I still want this dress. So I am going to resolve this hole on the sleeve thing with FP customer service."

"I checked the website almost daily until this dress came back in stock in the cream in my size and was not disappointed when it was delivered. It is beautiful and very elegant. I wore it with thick tights and my flat vintage Frye boots. I am a standard size 8 which I bought and it fits perfectly. It looks great styled with a big scarf and I can see that I will be wearing in all seasons."

Best of the Crochet Dresses
1.9.2013-
"I have several crochet pieces from FP - this is the best. Heavy crochet, does not stretch out (like some others I have), and does not feel at all fragile (but don't catch it on the door nob, etc... obviously).
The fit is a bit large - I usually buy a 6 (35, 27, 38 - 5'7" 140 extreme pear) and I bought a 4 (the 6's were sold out).
The 4 fits fine, and I probably could've even sized down to a 2. If I did the 6 I would have probably needed to belt it, so I'm glad I got the four.
The white one is my fav. The red is lovely, but the fabric is not as soft - almost as though the dye made it stiffer.
I like to be able to mix and match the slip, but the slips for these are dyed to match and are higher quality than most FP under-slips. Soft, silky, and perfectly matched the the vee-front."

"I fell in love with this dress in the red as soon as I saw it, but I never spend anything like this much on a dress since I rarely wear them. I kept telling myself it would not work on me (I'm 5' tall with a 32DD bust), but in the end I had to try it. I got my usual dress size 4 and the fit was perfect. This dress is absolutely gorgeous in person. The red is deep and vibrant, and the workmanship is outstanding. It looks delicate, but it's not. The lace/crochet is very sturdy and well made. I did find the slip to be a bit too big, but as another reviewer suggested, I tried another FP bodycon slip under the dress and it looked even better. It is long on me, but that works in this style of dress, and it looks amazing with tall boots. The fit is relaxed, so if you are slim on top or small busted, you can probably size down one or two sizes, depending on how loose you like the fit. The only thing I didn't really like was the zipper. I didn't think it was needed because I was able to just slip the dress over my head, and mine was a bit bumpy from being folded. I think it will straighten out after hanging for a while. Other than that, I can't say enough good things about this dress."

"Agree with most things from previous review but if u size down probably won't hang beautifully as on the model as it is supposed to be loose. Unfortunately my dress arrived with the front torn. Uncertain as to what to do as none left & it might sew up ok .this is the first damaged item I have received from FP so ????"
