Sunbelt Ankle Boot
Hand distressed, oil-stained suede slouchy ankle boots with wrap around buckle straps. Hardware is antiqued. Leather outsole is given a hammered treatment that adds to the overall vintage look and feel. The most perfect worn in boot. A Free People twist on color and distressing.
**Fits true to size. If you are in between sizes, then it is recommended that you size up. For example, 37 1/2 = 38.

In love with these boots!

"I've eyed these off for nearly 6 months now and I took the plunge and bought them. I'm in Australia, so it was an anxious wait. I've just received them and they're awesome. I did question whether they had actually been worn before me, but then I remembered that they're meant to look that way anyway! The sole is in perfect condition so i know they haven't been worn before me. I took the advice of many reviews and went a size up to a 39. I have pretty narrow feet and don't seem to have fitting issues and these fit well on me, with a little bit of extra room so I'd definitely recommend going a size up, if I'd bought my regular 38 I don't think they'd have fit.
The only criticism I'd say is that I've had a pair of boots with a similar sole to these and when they get worn out it needs to be replaced, they're the kind that can be a bit slippy, and not the best quality (my shoe guy told me this). But these are so beautiful that I don't even care, I'll do it when if that time comes! These will be perfect for winter in Sydney.
And the jangle is pretty slight on mine, maybe it gets louder as they get more worn in. I like the idea of a jangly boot anyway! Thanks for making my first FP experience a good one :)"

"I'm in Australia so I was a little worried about sizing as this was my first purchase from Freepeople.com. I need not have worried, the boots run true to size (although a little tight to get on at first but I think due to style of shoe and possibly my wide feet!). I LOVE my boots, they make this gorgeous jingle jangle sound as I walk and i've had so many comments on how cute they are. They look great with everything and are wearing in beautifully. If you love your footwear with a bit of movement and sound then these are a perfect addition to your wardrobe! In LOVE with my Jingle Jangle boots!"

Check the Soles!

"I had a very long wait with these boots, not just due to the fact that I am in Australia. I had to return the first pair I was sent as FP sent me a pair that had been worn.... ALOT!! So disappointed, the soles were completely worn, the actual boot had stretched and although they come worn and scuff looking, these boots looked a couple of months old. :( so make sure you check the soles when you receive them. True to size, unless you have a wide foot, upsize. Only 3 stars as I was sent a well worn pair."

Jingle practically gone now!

"I ordered these boots in January 2013. I didn't actually try them on until March because of a hectic quarter at school. I'm almost always a size 7.5 in shoes but the 38 was far too snug (too much pressure on my heal and toes - the leather is stiffer than expected). I exchanged them for a size 39 and they fit great and with enough room to loosen with wear. INTERESTING FACT, the jingle on the size 38 was out of control, just like all the previous reviewers say. However, the jingle is practically gone now. I looked at the buckles and the difference is in the shape of the metal tubes. The 38s had loose circular tubes but my new 39s have 'D' shaped tubes that are tight against the buckle. There are occasional dingy dings but normal for buckles. Pretty cool. My guess is FP made changes as a result of customer feedback. So, if you were on the fence because of the jingle, you may very well be in luck:) My love affair with these boots has finally come to fruition and I'm so excited. Thanks FP!!"

"These boots are so cute and they have been in my basket online for a while but I wasn't sure what size, what color, so I didn't order them. Today when I went into the FP store near me they happened to have this boot in my size, 39 (US size 9), so I tried it on. I am usually a size 8-1/2 but if shoes don't run in 1/2 sizes I go up to a 9 and it usually fits. I have a narrow foot, but even so I had a hard time getting my foot in the shoe. Once in the boot though the length and width were perfect for me and I could feel it stretching and becoming more comfortable as I wore it.. I would recommend going up at least a 1/2 size or a full size since these run small. I'm assuming the color I got was charcoal, but it doesn't look as dark as the boot shown in charcoal online and is more of a dark grey. I love the casual slouchy look of this boot and once on it is very comfortable."

"I love the look of these boots, but I had to use pliers and remove some metal from the front and back of the buckles or else I sounded like I was wearing spurs. They are very loud as is, but without the round moveable metal, I am super happy with my purchase and they fit perfectly true to size."

"I had a hard time deciding what size to order since I'm usually a 9.5 and the sizing was mixed between a 40 and 41. I'm very happy I ordered the 41 because they fit perfectly and feel a bit narrow. As others said, they do make a jingling noise when you walk but it doesn't bother me. They don't offer much cushioning but they aren't at all uncomfortable. I love them with jeans and black leggings and I'm looking forward to wearing them in the spring with skirts. A bit pricey for the quality but I'd buy them again."

"i absolutely fell in love with these boots the first time i saw them. I decided to order the 39 which my foot ranges anywhere from an 8 to a 9 depending on the shoe. When the shoe arrived I was so upset to find i could not even wedge my foot into one of the shoes and the other was so tight my toes curled. The only other slight issue I found with the shoe was how noisy they were, other than that i still think this is a beautiful boot. Needless to say I sent this pair back in exchange for a 40. I have not received the new pair yet so i cannot comment on the fit. Hopefully it works out this time!"

"This boot fits a little small, a half size up was perfect. The suede is great and they are very comfortable. The only thing to note, is they do jingle when you walk...lets just say everyone will know you are coming when you wear them."

"I would give this boot 5 stars if it wasn't for the jingle noise just like the rest of the reviews said but I decided to keep it coz' it's my style of boot that cool vibe and look! I love the distressed look, the heel is perfect for me I prefer low heels for comfort and as I wear it the more it loosens up to my fit. I can see myself wearing this pretty much with the majority of my FP wardrobe! A good staple boot to have!"

"Not premium quality, but overall a great boot at the price point. The suede is a little stiff and will take some time to break in, but I was really impressed by the soles, which can tell you a lot about the overall quality of a shoe. The soles are alike in quality to my vivienne westwood boots, with a hammered heel and leather sole. Leather soles are the best quality because they easily form to the foot and are easy to resole over time, resulting in a longer lasting boot. The sizing is definitely european; I'm an 8 and I got the 39, which was perfect, but probably snug with thick socks. Aesthetically, the color is nice, and yes, the buckles jingle quite a bit(a hot glue gun can fix this). Gotten a lot of compliments, even from my brother, who normally hates "unique" clothing. Overall, very happy with these boots."

"I have been searching for the perfect slouchy suede boot for almost two years and finally found them! The charcoal color online looks almost black but they are a dark grey like the color description says. Great weathered, worn in look. I'm a size 7 is most shoes and I got a 37. The first time i put them on i could barely squeeze my foot into them. It was really tight at the heel/ankle area. I thought i would have to return them but i walked around the house for a few minutes and i could already feel them stretching out so i decide to keep them. I wore them out one evening and now they fit perfectly. if you are in between sizes then i would order up since they are snug and you could wear thicker socks if they are a little big. Like everyone has said, they do jingle a lot! To fix this I used a hot glue gun and put a dot of glue at the bottom of each medal tube on the buckles, i tried to get it inside the end of the tubes. This worked perfectly! They no longer jingle. I love my new boots! :)"

"I LOVE these boots. I give it 4 not 5 stars because everyone else is right...they JINGLE and they run a little small! I wear an 8 pretty much across the board and the 39s fit great. I plugged the buckle up with some hot glue to stop the noise...squeezed it into the tube, then took a pin to push it to the center, topped off with a little super glue...no more jingle! Hope it stays. Out of principle, I feel I shouldn't have had to do anything to shoes that cost $228, but they do look great on..."

"First off, YES! They JINGLE LIKE THERE'S NO TOMORROW>Every single person who has reviewed these boots has written this and the jingling- it is a little annoying, even when putting them on they jingle and I'm considering breaking off the metal tubes encasing the buckle or I guess glueing them very precisley. Other than that, these are amazing boots. You cant find any other like this, the perfect shade of brown to go with all your gypsy/boho style outfits and with the perfect amount of buckles and the distressed shiny-ness of the toe makes them look so authentic. The material is tough and strong so to make them more slouchy you have to push them right to make them sit. AND the best part, I am one of the woman who likes having my calves appear slim in boots and not all boots give this appearnce. THESE DO. They are skinny leg boots people so you do not have to wear them with stockings! I recommend a white/cream coloured maxi dress with high thigh slits if possible and loads of jewels."

"I loved these boots online! Loved the look, however a head's up: forget sneaking up on anyone. If you've ever watched a western and heard the spurs on cowboy boots clanking as they walked down the street, then you've heard these boots. No joke. Seriously like wearing jingle bells. Loud jingle bells.
Also, I think these run about a 1/2 size too small. I just bought, oh....3-4 pairs of boots, all the same size, from different designers, and these were snug in length...and I have a skinny foot. That part was fine.

"I absolutely LOVE these boots! They have the perfect tomboy look! :) Two cons: I ordered these in Charcoal, but they arrived lighter than pictured. And like all the reviewers have said, these boots are LOUD! When I wore them out for the first time, some little girl pointed me out to her mom and said I had Christmas boots on! (Thank God it's the holiday season.) My solution was to fill half of the gap with hot glue from underneath. It definitely helped minimize the jingling. I just love the aesthetic and ergonomics of the boots so much that it's just worth having. They pair well with almost everything in my closet and fit comfortably true to size."

"i got this in the terra cotta, and the color is more orangish clay than red. i'm always a US8 and got the 39Euro (from many experiences of ordering 38Euro from UO which is too tight), and they fit just fine. i can slide my feet in and out with ease, and the shoe part fits just perfect. The bottom is very smooth, and is slippery on even carpet, so i'm skeptical about wearing them out in the snow. and now, the jingling. the noise they make with each step is pretty ridiculous. i had to stuff each metal tube of the buckles with tissue to stop the noise, and at least that did work for the most part. a little on the expensive side, but i do like the color and the worn-in (i.e. distressed, patchy) look. a good first attempt for fp shoes, but could use more practicality."

"I feel like a Shriner in these boots. Can't figure out why they designed the buckles to be so noisy. They are so cute and comfortable I am keeping them but trying to figure out what to do about the noise. I wrapped fabric around one end of the buckle and it made them look kinda edgy but still had noise coming from other end of buckle so I used a toothpick and shoved fabric down the middle of the ring on the buckle so it can't move around. I think it is going to work and better than glue as other reviewer suggested."
