"I ordered the "Darkest Black" pair which should really be called "Faded Black/ Extremely Dark Charcoal." Even though they are not genuine black, they are still a great color. As far as length and fit goes, I am a little over 5'8 and ordered size 31 regular. For me, the length is almost too short (for my taste) to wear with 3" heels. The pants are about 1/2" from touching the ground when I wear heels. But with regular shoes (I tried them on with Birkenstocks and a pair of flats) they are VERY long and easily hit the floor.Because pants generally shrink, I am hoping within a few washes they will be the ideal length. Overall, they are too flattering and comfortable not to keep. The length is just a little too long."

"I found the sizing to be inconsistent with these. I received the imperial blue in size 28 and they were TINY, so i sent them back. in a seperate shipment i received Black sand and Paramount..both fit except Paramount was too short, so i sent them back. Love the style, i have some more ordered and hope they fit like i want! I am 5'8" 125lbs and ordered sz 28. Also, black sand does have a rubbery smell. hopefully that will go away after washing!"

"I'm 5'4" 125lbs with curvy hips for my size. The 29 fit great and is very flattering on the tummy area since they are slightly higher waisted. The fabric is good for the price. The Short fit me perfect. No complaints!"

"I purchased Black Sand which is a grey colour. Lovely. However, the reason for 3 stars is that I received these with the stitching on the waist unravelled in 3 places. The workmanship was very poor. For an $80 pair of jeans it was very cheaply stitched. Fortunatley, FreePeople service was fantastic as always and it has been sorted so thanks for that. I do love these now that they have been fixed and am thinking of purchaseing another pair in a different color. After reading all the reviews, it appears that my experience was a one off - possibly a return pair and someone had stretched them and the stitching broke - not quite sure why it had happened. However, they sit well, are very comfy and flattering. I am normally a 28-29 and I purchased the 29 and very happy with this. Thanks Free People for your fast and efficient follow up service."

"I am always a size 27 in jeans, esp. stretch, and I ordered these in 27 and they fit PERFECTLY. I'm 5'9", 135lb, athletic and lean but with curves.
I got them in Moscow Blue, which in person don't look nearly as bright blue with the contrasted superwhite fade as they do online! They look more like regular denim blue with a bit of vintage fade.
These are way comfy, I feel like I've had them for years. So far the stretch stays true (they don't bag out), and I love that you can wear a fitted shirt/cami over top without seeing the big beltline bulging out like you would with zip/button up jeans!"

"I absolutely adore these pants. They fit great, and are so comfortable. They're a bit long, but I don't mind long pants as long as its not raining outside! I got a size 27 and they fit perfect. I'm 125 lbs and 5'4. You wont be disappointed if you get these pants."

"Short" too long!

"I really, really wanted to love these! I guess I assumed the short inseam would be the same as with other FP pants (generally 29") but these are way too long at 31". I just realized it's in the description, so my bad. But come on, 31" for short is too long! I'm 5'2" and these drag on the ground. I generally shy away from heels and planned on wearing flats and flip flops with these, but I don't think it's going to work with them dragging. If I'd known in advance I'd have to have them hemmed, I'd have ordered a different color (one that doesn't come in the "short" length). Inseam aside, the rise could definitely go up an inch or two for a smoother effect on the belly. These pants are made for tall girls with perfectly flat stomachs, apparently. I'm bummed."

"I wish they were available in 32 like a few of the other colors of this same style. Also the "blackest black" isn't quite there yet. They're a wee bit closer to dark gray, but I still love them overall. I wanted dark black in a Short length, but those weren't in stock. I had to have them hemmed. Overall, they look great with all my shoes--from heels to cowboy boots to simple flats. I'm planning to order these pants in a 32 short of another color. They'd then be absolutely perfect."

"I love that you can just pull these on, and you don't have to worry about buttons or pockets making strange bulk undertneath tops. I ordered them in size 24, short length, and the overall fit was perfect. For comparison, I am 5'1", and 95 lbs. The length might be a little long for some, but I pair them with platform shoes, and they look great. I get complements all the time."

"Got these jeans yesterday in the mail. Imperial Blue, size 30 regular. They are fantastic! Love the elasticity, awesome flare.. really great fit.. love the waist band. The Imperial Blue is lighter than pictured... faded blue with yellowish undertones. The fabric is super soft.. the stretch is fantastic.. I would the describe the fit to be similar to my favorite pair of athletic tights... they are comfortable, but hold ya in and flatter the figure. For reference, I'm 5'7.5", about 138lbs, athletic build with a decent sized bum. The waist comes about 1.5 inches below my belly button (I am slightly long waisted). I usually buy super low-rise jeans.. I would call these mid-rise, but in the most cool and flattering way. The "Regular" length is pretty long... the hem still scuffs the floor with 4.5 inch heel.. But I wouldn't go shorter, because I would prefer to wear them with heels rather than flats. These jeans ROCK.. will most likely get another pair in a different color!"

"I bought these jeans in a size 27. I am 5'8" tall and weigh 127. They are the right length for flats or a 2-3" heel. I wore them with Cowboy boots. The fit and feel of the fabric and waist band made them very comfortable, even on a 3 hour flight. The ridges shown here in the photo are not permanent. The dye color is which accentuate the pattern. They wash well too! I'm tempted to get another pair. At 50+ I can't get enough of the Retro style or FP. Thank you!"

"These jeans are unbelievably comfortable. The rise is a little short but the pull on elastic waistband is brilliant! They look like regular jeans but theres no bulk from a fly and totally stretchy all over and SO comfortable.
I would request the rise be a half inch to full inch higher, but I love the length 34" in regular, and I absolutely ADORE the stretch. These are great jeans!"

"I love these pants! I've been looking for a pair of well-made flares for a while now and haven't had any luck until these! I originally tried these on in the store on a whim, as I didn't think they would fit. Lo and behold, the 31s are perfection! I'm 5'9" and the 'regular' inseam is still just a tad long, so shorties beware, but they still look fine when I wear them with my Birks. I'm currently awaiting these in the mail in both Moscow and Imperial Blue. I love love love these pants. If they're not really tight when you first try them on, size down. Mine have stretched about a half size, but have now maintained that shape after multiple wears and washes. Oh, and the gray is really much lighter in person, more of a medium than dark gray."

It does run long. I'm 5'6" and planning to get it hemmed about 2-3 inches off. It is too flared for my liking and will have it toned down a bit.

"i think i'll be living in these. the imperial blue ones are as pictured in the close up (the model shot shows them kind of dark). debating ordering a second pair just because i love them so much. im usually a 27/short in most denim brands - so i'll say they fit true to size (prob a 30.5-31 inch inseam). the stretch stays stretchy, not saggy! im stoked. & no one can tell they are elastic banded (which the elastic band is nice & thick & comfy!!)"

"Received these yesterday and tried them on right away. They fit perfect. I typically wear a 10/12 and ordered the 30. I always have so much trouble getting good jeans and I always have to make sure they have good stretch because my waist/hip/booty ratio requires for no gapping in the back. I prefer mid/high rise jeans and I would classify these as midrise. I don't think I would wear a top that would show the fact that these don't have a button like regular jeans, however, they are really comfy and in case you have any doubt they are actual stretch denim. I wore them around the house to see if the elastic would eventually give and it didn't. I was expecting them to start to fall down after a while, but they held true. I had been debating on these for so long and am glad I finally got them. BTW ordered the imperial blue and it isn't quit as dark in person."

"I am almost 5'7" and weigh about 140..I got these in Black Sand in a size 28 Short. they fit perfect. By getting them short, I can wear them with flats and have them not drag on the ground very slimming! The black sand color is a lot lighter than pictured. it is more of a charcoal grey throughout, the color isnt as shaded as in the picture"

Perfect Fit Love these Jeans!!

"I first tried these jeans on in my local free people store and thought "yeah they are nice but are they worth the price?" After a few weeks went by I couldn't stop thinking about these jeans. I talked about them so much my girlfriend went and bought me a pair, LOL I could see spending the $78. especially not being sure that they wouldn't end up living in my dresser. I must say...I now own three pairs and they are worth every penny! Do not hesitate to try these jeans, but be sure to read the reviews :) I found that the lengths in these run rather looooonnnng! I didn't want the short to be too short I am a 32 length so I purchased the longer size of 34 and took them to the alterations/dry cleaners and had them shortened to 32" for $8. The 31 short fits too but what I found was with the flare bottom at 31" for me made the flare "bell out" so to speak it didn't lay right. So purchasing the longer and altering to my correct size makes me happier than ever to own these comfortable stretchy like butter feel jeans! My absolute new Favorite! :)"
