"Though statement coats are absolutely my favourite type of clothing, I was hesitant to pay so much money for a this - I'm glad I did. It's not quite how I'd imagined it from the picture - the detailing on the sleeves is much brighter and not as subtle as I'd hoped, but it's still a lovely piece and such good quality. Seriously, I couldn't get over how great the fabric felt, and it's incredibly comfortable. I'll probably be wearing it every day over the winter - it's quite toasty with a sweater underneath, but if you're from a country where it gets properly cold (i.e. not Australia) this is probably more of a Spring/Autumn jacket."

"after i bought this, i couldn't decide if it's unique or over the top. i initially agreed with the reviewer who said this is "trying too hard". but after staring at it for a week, i've come to the conclusion that it's just very different. as many others have mentioned. this fits very roomy. i got my regular size and yes, it fits very loose, with the sleeves covering most of my hands, but that's how it's meant to fit. i'm sure sizing down would still have the same effect though. the embellishment is quite exquisite, and the beads seem sturdy enough that they won't fall off willy-nilly. for me, i feel that i do appreciate that it's a unique design, but i wouldn't say it's versatile enough to go with everything."

"I saw this on the website and kept deciding whether or not I wanted to purchase this.
I am so glad I did.
I am so glad I did.
The embelishments are unique, its well made, and by adjusting the strings on the waist , it provides a personal fit choice, the same with the strings on the bottom which can tighten the jacket around you or loosen it up for a more casual look.
There are 4 functional pockets on the jacket , which can be used, but I like to keep my pockets flat. Definite staple piece."

"reviews speak for themselves LOVE LOVE this jacket, so although i could go on and on about it, everyone else already has so ditto....so i will just comment on how a medium fits someone 5'3, 130 lbs. well; not ideally but do-able. i waited too long and the Xs and S were sold out so i crossed my fingers and ordered a medium. when i first tried it on i was so sad cause it looked like a potatoe sack until i played with the drawstrings. i pulled it so the jacket bunched at the back and it looked great, front and back. i ended up stitching through the drawstring with my sewing machine so it stayed the way i wanted. worked perfectly. arms are still a bit too long, but i think it works cause of the oversized looked. so just if someone my size is considering the medium....if you really love the jacket, and dont mind an oversized look, with a bit of play it can work without it looking like you're wearing a jacket thats 2 sizes too big. with a bit of play...it looks like , its the intended look."

"First this coat is not 'huge' as so many have reported. I typically wear an XS or S and the small in this coat was perfect not 'huge' at all so please no worries on the size thing -- it's true to size for a coat that is supposed to be just that a 'coat' that one would wear sweaters under. I was surprised at how soft and worn in it felt and sure the embellishment is 'Over the Top' but that is the great FUN of it and the photos clearly show this aspect! Also, the worn in distressed feel and look of it are a tonic to the glitz and sparkle. It may not be for the faint of heart fashionista or for anyone too young (as would be intimidating perhaps) but for those who can pull off unique pieces this is a great addition -- it takes a practical jacket and turns it into a stunner for weekend kicking around or travelling. LOVE IT! :) Cheers!"

"Beautifully embellished jacket but gave it 4 stars because it is so large for its size and, honestly, do not know how any person who is petite in height can wear it - but I could be wrong! :) Loved the design and the weight of the jacket but think even an XS would be too large for me........the Small was much too large, unfortunately. Had been waiting for so long to see it again. Gorgeous jacket but on the larger side of the size chart. A time when I wish I was much taller!"

"Bought this for my daughter, and she is very artistic and stylish. She just did not like the heavy embellishments on this jacket, AT ALL. Her words were, "Mom, it's trying too hard". The work on it is amazing, but just too over the top and heavy for our taste. But, obviously a lot of other people love it."

"As you know by now with all the other reviews this is an incredibly gorgeous coat. Sadly my usual xs was sold out. But loving this jacket so much a bought the small with the intention of getting it adjusted based on other reviews. I was worried that it would look ridiculously big on me, not just oversized as some of the other reviewers has stated. I was wrong! It is not swimming on me, and It is perfectly oversized- couldn't be happier. So if you concerned about the size, don't be, it's perfect."

"as it's shown in the pictures this parka runs HUGE! so people shouldn't give negative reviews because of that. anyway as far as fitting goes, there's only an inch difference between the bust of the small and xs, i am a true xs but had to order small because the xs was sold out and i wanted this item badly. the drawstrings on the sides prevented it from looking like a potato sack on me, the arms are super long they end at my fingers (and i have pretty long arms). despite the way it fits, this jacket is so awesome, military style parkas are in style now and thanks to free people mine will stand out!"

"Absolutely love this jacket and it looks even better in person. Ordered my usual FP small and it fits perfectly. I pretty much fell in love with this jacket as soon as I saw it, but unfortunately the first time I saw it was after it had initially sold out online. I eyed it for a while on an auction site, but I wasn't willing to drop like $500 for it. So, having said that, as soon as I saw it available online again I immediately bought it. I am so happy I did as it is my new favorite jacket and it will be worn to death. The detailing is fantastic and it truly is like nothing else I've ever seen."

"The best thing about Free People is their originality and craftsmanship; this coat epitomizes those characteristics AND is actually useful. It is such a gorgeous piece and if you're on the fence about it, don't be because you'll absolutely get your money's worth. This jacket never fails to get attention and compliments and sometimes it's just really cool seeing people who could not care less about fashion remark on its unique design and overall radness. It's nearly as heavy as a denim jacket and will provide about the same amount of warmth. It is very over-sized, like most of Free People's products. Your best bet is to buy true to your size because it's designed to be an exaggerated XS, S, M, etc. I wear an XS and am 5'9" (long arms and such) and I got an XS in this coat with no problems in arm length or any sort of constraint in the shoulders. There is a comfortable amount of room to layer a sweater over other thin, long sleeve layers within the coat because of its over-sized fit. Such a good investment, and an even better way to visibly maintain your style even in the dark winter months that require numerous layers just to survive! I would write a haiku about this jacket if I could, it's just that cool.
p.s. SUPER easy to dress up or down. Too fun to only wear on certain occasions!"

"I had been eyeing this coat since it was highlighted in the Free People catalog, so I finally decided to order one. After delivery, I immediately tried it on, only to discover that it runs HUGE! I ordered a size small but this coat fit more like a large, including sleeves that dangled past my fingertips. (For reference, I typically wear a small or medium in Free People clothing, being approx.a US size 6.) I felt like I was wearing a potato sack cinched at the waist. I certainly can understand how other customers found this coat to be so appealing since the detailing is eye-catching. However, this piece didn't work out for me; I felt like a little girl in her mama's coat."

"I fell in love with the golden quills military the second I saw it and I just had to have it! I am a complete sucker and do love an unusual item in my waldrobe...I confess Im a bit of a unique item collector...but seriously this jacket truely is gorgeous!!!
Everytime I wear this jacket I get compliments...even from the most random strangers...its a great feel good factor to recieve so many compliments!
Its a great fit - I am 6 foot tall, so I went for a Large, which has given me plenty of room...Being so tall and having long arms, it has great length to the sleeves and good length in the body too for somebody as tall as myself. A drawcord waist so you can bring it in to adjust, which also gives this jacket great shape. The hood is a decent size, helps if you have a lot of hair to hide from the weather and covers your face if you get caught out in the rain!
I was slightly worried that the detailing on this jacket would be delicate and that it would have to be an item you wear carefully, but it surprised me and is very well made indeed! Its not at all delicate and you dont have to worry when wearing it at all. Infact, when this jacket arrived in the post, I fell even more in love with it as the detailing was even more beautiful than in the pictures! Also, the colouring of the coat was even more gorgeous as there is a lovely olive undertone which you cant really see in the pictures too. The jacket has a slight mottled effect, which reminds me of looking at the dappled effect you get at the bottom of a swimming pool from the water ripples.
Anyone who is lucky enough to have got their hands on this jacket will agree with me and anyone who hasnt yet will not be dissapointed in any way - its a must have!!!"

"I had o order this jacket all the way from California because it sold out online, but it was COMPLETELY worth it! The jacket is so unique and can really change the look of any outfit. I'm 5'9 and 145lbs and I got a small. Its still roomy, not baggy, and I like that its fitted. If you can find one of these jackets in some store in the nation, BUY IT. It was one of that best FP decisions I've ever made."
