"The taupe skirt is really a sort of neutral lilac in person. I did not have a problem with this, as I bought mine at one of the FP stores in New York City and thus saw what I was getting, but other people may be disappointed.
I got the extra small in this without trying it on, and it fits perfectly.
Note that when walking, this skirt has a habit of scrunching up, making it sorter than it intended to be."
"I was a little worried after buying this skirt and reading some of the negative reviews related to small sizing, quality, and fabric. However, I was pleased when I received this top in the mail. The fit is TTS--I am an xs in FP dresses, and the skirt was perfect in an xs as well. The length was good (mid-thigh) and could be scrunched a bit up or down. However, I did give this skirt four stars instead of five because, as other reviewers have noted, this is a thinner/cheaper quality material than the original FP scrunch skirts. I have been ordering from FP for years and have bought a couple of scrunch skirts of theirs in the past--these definitely were of a thicker/softer/seemingly higher quality material. However, the new material is not bad. I do kinda wish they kept the same material, but it is still a great skirt. p.s.: the taupe color is a tan/brown color and not the lavendar/mauve color shown in the studio photos--however, I already knew this as I could tell by the FP Me photos below."
"Love the scrunched front of this skirt - makes it a little more interesting than your run-of-the-mill miniskirt. Other reviewers complained about the quality of the fabric but considering the price of this piece relative to other FP merchandise, you are getting what you pay for."
"I have been looking for a good cotton miniskirt for a long time. I bought one from another retailer that is horrible because it stretches out when I wear it, but this one doesn't! It keeps its shape throughout the day and it is comfortable and flattering. I bought the black and I plan to purchase it in many other colours! This skirt is perfect for warm weather to pull on instead of shorts to dress up any outfit. More than worth the price! I'm 5'4 110 and I bought the XS which fit perfectly."

Obsessed.

"I am so pleased with this skirt. It is a great fabric, very soft and giving in the waist. Some high waist skirts can be uncomfortable when sitting down, but this one is supper comfy. I wore it to a nice restaurant with a lace top and flats, and then out to the pub the next night with heels and a tank. Very versatile, great closet staple. I got it in Army and Slate. xoxo"

Instead of shorts
4.25.2013-
"This is a nice alternative to shorts. It is flattering and not too short, not too long. I bought this in black and taupe. Great skirt that gives great options. Runs a bit small."
"I tried this skirt on at my local Free People store, and it was not flattering at all! I tried the XS and the S, and they looked the exact same. (For reference I am 5'6, 115, 32A.) I have a butt, so it just hugged me in all the wrong places!"

"This skirt has an amazing fit and I was so tempted to get it, but it felt a little too young for me. I am a size 6 and the medium was great, but a little shorter than what I am wearing these days. If I were a bit younger I would definitely buy one in each color because it would look great with everything!"

good!

"Adore this skirt, though it is a little short on me. I got the xs which fits nicely, but as I am an hourglass figure I like to rest it slightly above my hips instead of on them and so it is a little bit short, I probably could have gotten a small. That said the design is lovely, the scrunch is really something very simple that gives it so much more, and it can be worn with almost anything!"

Poor Quality :(
3.18.2013-
"I bought my first FP scrunch skirt a few years ago and have bought every color/pattern since. They are by far my favorite skirts i have ever owned. That said, i was VERY excited when FP brought back the taupe/black and introduced the grey. I bought all 3 colors in both a small and a medium. (I like the small for going out and the medium for during the day/more casual). When they arrived, i was extremely disappointed in the quality. They are not as thick/stretchy as they previously were. The waistband and the bottom hem are very stiff with basically no stretch at all. i want to love these skirts as much as my other ones, but the quality is SERIOUSLY lacking."

"this is a great basic piece. the ruching is very forgiving on bumps and curves. very comfy material, which does seem to attract lint. and the price just cannot be beat."
"This skirt is great! It looks exactly how it does in the pictures. It fits true to size. The material is actually more impressive than what I was expecting. I've bought similar looking products from other companies that have stretched out or went pilly but this skirt is obviously better quality. I feel really good about this purchase!"

Highly Disappointed - Cheap Fabric!
3.8.2013-
"I have been shopping at Free People for years, and up until this past order, I've never really been disappointed with the quality of their clothes. I've owned two black scrunch skirts for about a year now, and I wear them three times a week. So, I bought two more since they were getting a bit old. When I tried it on, I immediately noticed how thin the skirt was. I’m really angry that Free People would change over from a more high quality thick knit fabric to something thinner and less substantial. I go to school in the northeast and it gets really cold during the school year. I don’t think I would want to wear something so thin out, even with tights. Also, the skirt doesn't fit as well as it did before, because of the fabric. It just doesn't hold up as well. In addition to the disappointing fabric, I noticed a lot of long threads on the inside of the skirt, and there was a messed up seam on the outside of the skirt. They’ve also changed the elastic waistband, which I don’t like. Overall, I’m really dissatisfied and I just hope that they’ll go back to their other fabric and quality standards."

"I love love love this skirt. I was a bit hesitant to order it because I'm only 4' 10" and was worried it'd be too long, but it's perfect!!! It hits about 2 inches above my knees, which is great for school or more formal occasions, but I can scrunch it up and make it as short as I want, which is great for parties. It is tight, but the scrunches make it very forgiving. I probably will end up ordering it in a second color as well."
"I have this in both black and taupe. I absolutely love them. The cut is flattering and goes with everything. I like to keep tops loose and baggy since the skirt is tight. The taupe is a little more blush than I thought it would be but I'm loving it. Goes perfectly with olive green and black. I'm not a big fan of the heather grey one but if there are more colors, I will probably buy them. I bought my usual FP size which is XS. I am 5'4", 35" hips, 125lbs and I found the XS perfectly tight. I'm definitely glad I didn't size up."

FP scrunch skirt in taupe with a little fall olive green. instagram @ amyjunghwa
"i am on my second black scrunch skirt and just ordered the new color in taupe. i bought the first skirt a few years back and immediately fell in love with it. it has all the perfect details. the scrunching is amazing for those days you are not feeling too great about your tummy or feeling bloated.. the scrunching hides all these imperfections and leave you feeling secured stepping out into the world. the material is super soft too which i love about most of the clothes fp produces. unfortunately, with time and it being my fave skirt the time came for me to replace it with a new one. i also purchased the taupe color and can't wait to try out diff combo outfits with it! i'm sure i'll be falling in love with that one as well. ladies, you will not regret buying this and i highly recommend that you do. such a staple in your closet and so much outfits can be worn with this skirt."

Essential
2.12.2013-
"This is such an essential piece to have. It is one of those key layering pieces that completes an FP wardrobe. The length is perfect and the scrunch is awesome at hiding any trace of a panty-line or any other imperfection you may be self conscious about. I've worn it over a low-neck onesie with a vintage FP jacket over it, tucked the front of a dreamy white FP buttondown into it, and have worn it exactly as the model is wearing it here. Hint: for a killer cool outfit...order the big dipper tee shown here on the model. The combination of these two is to die for."
"This skirt is the perfect basic. Can be worn so many different ways. It is very flattering to the body, and love that it is not flimsy. Indeed, a must have."

Mmmmm

"Its a bit shorter than I expected but I can see where the scrunches are forgiving on my body. It's also tighter than I expected. I will keep it for summertime to wear with tanks and tshirts but not what I had it in mind for. Was hoping for it to be a comfy work skirt staple but just a lil too short I think.... Also the taupe looks more like a mauve to me...."
